I am a sister, daughter, mother, wife, grand-daughter, cousin, niece, aunt, friend, neighbour, colleague, writer, journalist, author, historian, consultant, self-employed businessperson, citizen, resident, member, parishioner, director, partner, humanitarian, socialist, naturalist, idealist,believer, ecologist, gardener, cyclist, swimmer, hiker, canoeist, cross-country skier and snowshoer. I'm a Canadian who was born in Ontario and now lives in Quebec.
These lists could go on, but clearly, an individual is significantly more complicated than the current trend towards branding leads us to believe.
My role as a non-fiction writer touches on all these identities along with many of which I'm not aware.
My aim to write inspirational stories that encourage readers to act in favour of a private or public good is a lofty goal requiring mutual respect and trust, something that must be earned, not assumed.
