Cultural identity is based on an intersection of family background, surrounding society and the choices individuals make about art, education, lifestyle, philosophy, religion, science, technology, travel and volunteering.
For me, practical realities and responsibility have always tempered desirable goals, such as social justice, global cooperation and feminism. I always invested a great deal of energy in my roles as the eldest child, a working university student, a pregnant woman and a working mother to leave room for much else.
So now that my children are mostly grown and I’m in the third part of my life, I’m committed to participating and creating projects that accomplish bigger social goals.
